Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a CMI encoding and decoding method, a CMI encoding circuit and a CMI decoding circuit in which a high-speed synchronous signal can be surely transmitted with a CRV without affecting a main signal to perform CMI encoding in simple procedures and hardware configuration. SOLUTION: In the encoding method for superimposing the asynchronous signal on the main signal while using only a CRV 0 as a CRV for superimposing the asynchronous signal on the main signal in the case of using a CMI code, when the main signal is replaced with the CRV 0 of the superimposing signal, the original main signal can not be sent. Therefore, two bits of the main signal to be sent in a time slot to insert the CRV 0 (CRV display time slot) and the next time slot are made into two-bit code by prescribed rules and this two-bit code is transmitted by using the first half and the latter half of the next time slot (compression time slot).
