PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize an object recognition device by which quantity of image information of a database can be reduced as maintaining a recognition rate. SOLUTION: In the object recognition device for recognizing an object by comparing image data of a three-dimensional object with image information about a previously constructed database, it is provided with an image input device for fetching the image data of the object, a storage means in which pieces of image information of a plurality of reference image of the object are stored as the database, a pre-processing means for outputting the image data obtained from the image input device as it is when the image data is the reference image, for generating an axial symmetric image of the image data when the image data is not the reference image, generating and outputting the reference image from the image data and the axial symmetric image and a recognition processing means for recognizing the object by collating the reference image to be outputted from the pre-processing means with the database.
