PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tea rice gruel which has the rich original aroma and taste of tea and has the brilliant green color of the tea to give a healthy appearance, because rice gruel is lionized as a healthy food due to a low calorie and easy digestibility, especially because a tea rice gruel has a strong healthy image. SOLUTION: This retort tea rice gruel is prepared by subjecting a mixture of tea powder obtained by pulverizing tea leaves in an extent not giving uncomfortable touches to teeth and a tongue, when eaten, water in an amount required for preparing the rice gruel, and suitably washed raw rice or steamed rice to a retort sterilization treatment in a heat-resistant sealed packing container.
