Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing system for digital printing which can improve the throughput and efficiency of the transfer of image data to imaging devices such as lasers, and at the same time enables dynamic and continuous adjustment of an image size and registration (alignment) on recording media. SOLUTION: A buffer memory structure is configured to receive data from raw image files. Specific parts of data are copied from the raw image files into the buffer memory structure, and copied into an image buffer for editing a final image. An image overlap is resolved by copying data into the image buffer according to a defined hierarchical structure. The image size and registration are adjusted with the use of a phase-locked loop to optimize the appearance of the final image on the recording medium. The optimization is carried out dynamically and continuously, thereby providing a uniform final image. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
