Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst having high activity and excellent durability for a long period of time when hydrogen is produced by reacting methanol with a water vapor. SOLUTION: The catalyst for reforming methanol contains copper oxide, zinc oxide, aluminum oxide, zirconium oxide and cerium oxide as indispensable components and preferably contains gallium oxide as an optional component. The catalyst is subjected to a burning treatment at 480-690 deg.C preferably.
