Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of constraining an occupant of a vehicle for reducing a load charged on the occupant of the vehicle during a constraining process. SOLUTION: In the method of constraining the occupant of the vehicle by dissipating kinetic energy, possibility of an accident is firstly sensed, a force applied in the collision direction is applied to the occupant of the vehicle at latest in a contact time of the vehicle with an obstacle, a certain acceleration is applied to the occupant of the vehicle, and a force is set over the whole braking distance in a method of uniformly causing the dissipation of the kinetic energy.
