Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the combination of a cylinder and a piston ring capable of reducing frictional force in sliding and the abrasion of both of the cylinder and the piston ring, and improving its scuff-proof characteristic. SOLUTION: The combination is composed of the aluminium alloy cylinder and the piston ring provided with hard chrome laminated plating film composed of at least two hard chrome plating layers at least on an outer peripheral sliding face of a base material surface. The hard chrome plating layers forming the hard chrome laminated plating film are provided with fine cracks including a part opened to an outer face side and stayed in each hard chrome plating layer having the self-opening with respect to its depth direction, and a part extended to the hard chrome plating layer lower than the hard chrome plating layer having the self-opening, in a distributed state. Whereby the oil-holding property can be improved, the change of the oil-holding property is hardly found, and the low frictional force can be constantly kept in sliding.
