Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work position detector which can reliably detect that a work reaches an extraction waiting position without any trouble of mistaken detection, or the like, in a walking beam type continuous heating furnace provided on a hot rolling mill. SOLUTION: The work position detector 10 in the walking beam type continuous heating furnace comprises an elevated position detecting means which is installed at a height to detect the work 7 when a walking beam type movable skid 4 is in an elevated position, and a lowered position detecting means which is installed at a height to detect the work when the skid is in a lowered position. The lowered position detecting means is disposed on the heating furnace charging side from the elevated position detecting means by a backlash amount or more in a drive mechanism of the walking beam type movable skid 4. In addition, at least two sets of detection units comprising the elevated and lowered position detecting means are closely disposed in the carrying direction of the work. |
