Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a large size short arc type mercury lamp enclosing mercury of not less than 20 mg/cm with which the surface of an arc tube is not deteriorated without abating the effect of conventional trigger wire. SOLUTION: With the short arc type mercury lamp composed of an arc tube made of quartz glass within which a pair of positive electrode and a negative electrode are arranged opposed to each other and with rare gas for startup and mercury of not less than 20 mg/cm are enclosed, a trigger wire located at the arc tube section is arranged not to touch the surface of the arc tube. |
