Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the access performance by reducing the number of times of I/O to a disk array. SOLUTION: A plurality of stripe groups S1-S4 for distributing and storing data are assigned to disk devices DISK #1-#3 comprising a disk array 13. In this case, the data arrangement of each of stripe groups S1-S4 is determined to store data in the same disk device concerning all data spread over the adjacent stripe groups, for example, block data D2 in the stripe group S1 and block data D3 in the stripe group S2, block data D4 in the stripe group S2 and block data D5 in the stripe group S3, or block data D6 in the stripe group S3 and block data D7 in the stripe group S4.
