Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give the least possible skew to documents when carried by preventing a side guide from being out of restriction by the gradual rise of the documents at both sides when delivered out of a feed tray. SOLUTION: The document feeder comprises the feed tray 2 for stacking the document, the side guide 12 to be slid on the feed tray 2 in the cross direction of the documents for restricting the side positions of the documents, a delivery roller 6 for contacting and delivering the documents placed on the feed tray 2, and a feed roller 7 located on the downstream side of the delivery roller 6 for feeding the delivered documents to a carrier path 20. The side guide 12 is provided extending to the downstream side of a delivery position where the delivery roller 6 contacts the documents, and an upper face restricting guide 14 is arranged near the delivery position for restricting the positions of the upper faces of the documents when delivered.
