Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an aromatic polycarbonate which is characterized by using 4-tertiary butylphenol (PTBP) as a terminal-sealing agent for the aromatic polycarbonate, by which the aromatic polycarbonate capable of being suitably used for optical recording media and optical information transmission media can be obtained without coloring the obtained aromatic polycarbonate. SOLUTION: This method for producing the aromatic polycarbonate is characterized by using PTBP obtained by reacting (a) phenol with (b) isobutylene in the presence of a catalyst under a pressure of <=200 kPa. |
