Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrolysis cell with a cation exchange membrane, which enables operation in low voltage and high current efficiency, and provide an electrolysis method. SOLUTION: The vertical type electrolysis cell with the ion exchange membrane, which arranges a gas diffusion electrode in a cathode chamber of the electrolysis cell having the ion exchange film which partitions the cell into an anode chamber and the cathode chamber, comprises arranging a drain hole for catholyte, which communicates with a region formed between the ion exchange membrane and the gas diffusion cathode, at a lower part of the cathode chamber, and forming an opening in the gas diffusion electrode, in order to supply moisture to a boundary between the gas diffusion electrode and the ion exchange membrane, from a gas chamber of the gas diffusion electrode. |
