Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for removing a coating of an optical fiber, which can perform automatic coating removing operation without interruption. SOLUTION: This apparatus comprises a gripping means which grips an optical fiber, a coating removing blade 16 which cuts the coating layer of the optical fiber gripped by the gripping means and strips the coating layer away, and a sucking device 18 which sucks the stripped-away coating layer. The gripping means comprises a lower block 12 which has a support surface supporting the optical fiber, an upper block 14 having two opposite inside walls, and a movable body which moves up and down between the inside walls. A linear closed space where the optical fiber can be installed up to the inside is formed of the flat surface, the inside walls, and the bottom surface of the movable body and the coating removing blade 16 and sucking device 18 are fitted to one end and the other end of the linear closed space, respectively. |
