Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image decoder that can always obtain an improved result on the image quality of various bit rate. SOLUTION: Image information from an input terminal 1 is feed to a contour feature extract section 2 to extract a feature of the contour of a compressed block so as to calculate the activity of the block order and a contour step difference or the like. The calculation result is fed to a block distortion decision section 3, which decides whether or not the calculation result is to be corrected by a threshold 1 or the like optionally set and supplied from an external controller section 100. The decision result is fed to a block distortion correction strength calculation section 4, which calculates a block distortion correction quantity according to thresholds 2, 3 or the like optionally set and supplied from the controller section 100. Then the calculated block distortion correction quantity is fed to a block distortion correction section 5, where correction processing for adding/subtracting the correction quantity of block distortion is applied to a pixel around the block border. |
