Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight and thickness of a radiation detector without lowering the mechanical strength significantly. SOLUTION: The radiation detector comprises means for converting radiation into an electric signal, a supporting member for mounting the converting means, and means for processing the converted electric signal disposed on the rear side of the supporting member wherein a recess is made in the supporting member in correspondence with the position of the processing means and a material for shielding radiation to the supporting member is buried in the recess.
