Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To connect a plate member with a piston main body firmly and to prevent separation and crack on a boundary face of the piston member and the plate member even when their coefficients of thermal expansion differ from each other. SOLUTION: In this cylinder injection type spark ignition engine 10, the plate member 36 is arranged on a top face 16A of a piston 16, and heat transfer from the plate member 36 to the piston main body 16B is prevented by a heat transfer prevention part 40. Consequently, temperature of the plate member 36 is quickly raised by ignition combustion of an air-fuel mixture formed by injecting fuel from a fuel injection valve 24 into a combustion chamber 18 to promote the evaporation of fuel collided against the plate member 36. Since the circumference of the plate member 36 is connected with the piston main body 16B by a compound layer 38, the plate member 36 can be firmly connected with the piston main body 16B. The compound layer 38 between the plate member 36 and the piston main body 16B prevents separation and crack on the boundary face of the piston main body 16B and the plate member 36 even when their coefficients of thermal expansion differ from each other.
