Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small-sized, lightweight and simple portable drill being capable of controlling the three modes of a rolling mode, a striking mode and rolling and striking modes, conducting proper excavation in conformity with the objects of a stratum and an investigation and having excellent workability, manpower and mobility. SOLUTION: The portable drill has a guide mechanism in fixed length installed to a travelling truck capable of being moved by manpower, a sliding member having a supplying-forwarding mechanism and being moved in a freely forwarding-retracting manner in the longitudinal direction of the guide mechanism by engaging with the guide mechanism and a drill head, which is installed to the sliding member and in which a drill rod is connected at a front end section and which has a spindle movable and rotatable in the longitudinal direction. The drill head has a striking mechanism and a rolling mechanism imparting striking force and revolving torque to the drill rod simultaneously or singly through the spindle.
