Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a document editing technology, which can deal with document editing of long sentences as well, can make the meaning of a document under editing easy to comprehend in document editing of long sentences and is to be used at a portable terminal. SOLUTION: When reading the document of an editing object (S2011), when there is a line feed mark within 40 characters, which is a number of characters simultaneously displayable on a display (S2012: Yes), the component to that mark is defined as a partial document but when there is no line feed mark (S2012: No), the line feed mark is inserted to the 40th character and the component to that mark is recorded in a first memory as a partial document. Then, each of partial documents can be selected as an object of editing at that time point, the data of the selected partial document are recorded in a second memory and displayed on the display, and real editing work is performed.
