Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit or the like which can add/update authentication data held in the processing unit. SOLUTION: The image processing unit 102 inputs a voice by a voice input unit 105 connected to the unit 102 of the printer side, extracts the feature amount of the voice, encrypts the voice, and then stores the encrypted voice in a nonvolatile RAM 210 in the unit 102. The processing unit 102 further stores the voice feature amount stored in a card type storage medium 705 in the RAM 210 in the unit 102 by a card reader 704 connected to the unit 102.
