Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite roll for rolling made by centrifugal casting which is provided with high wear resistance and surface roughening resistance required for the external layer thereof without checking them, and has remarkably improved boundary strength between the external layer and internal layer. SOLUTION: The composite roll for rolling made by centrifugal casting is obtained by forming the internal layer consisting of a ductile cast iron material having chemical components containing, by mass, 3.0 to 3.6% C, 2.5 to 3.3% Si, 0.3 to 0.8% Mn, 0.1 to 0.5% Ni, <=1.0% Cr, <=1.0% Mo, <=1.0% V, <=1.0% Nb, <=0.5% W, 0.03 to 0.08% Mg, <=0.1% P, <=0.05% S and 0.001 to 0.05% Bi, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities on the inside of the external layer consisting of a high speed steel based material.
