Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electroluminescent device having a long service life and high luminous intensity. SOLUTION: A 3,4-polyalkylenedioxythiophene dispersion containing a polyanion and cationic 3,4-polyalkylenedioxythiophene represented by the formula (I), [wherein, n is an integer of 3-100, preferably 4-15, X is-(CH2 )x -CR R -(CH2 )y <-> , (wherein, R and R are, independently, H, an alkyl group having 1-20 carbon atoms, which may be optionally substituted, an aryl group having 6-14 carbon atoms, or-CH2 -OR ), (wherein, R is H, an alkyl or-CH2 -CH2 -CH2 -SO3 H), and x and y are, independently, an integer of 0-9], in which at least 90% of particels are smaller than 50 nm, is used.
