Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-base ink set for ink jet recording which has a color balance attained by imparting a same light resistance to each of its color inks and gives a picture image maintaining the color balance even after discoloration. SOLUTION: This water-base ink set for ink jet recording at least comprises a yellow ink, a magenta ink, and a cyan ink. When the yellow ink, magenta ink, and cyan ink are each deposited on plain paper sheet and exposed to light with a wavelength of 300-400 nm for 30 h under a xenon lamp with a light radiation illuminance of 100 W/m , the changes in color of the yellow ink, magenta ink, and cyan ink represented by ΔEY, ΔEM, and ΔEC, respectively, satisfy the relations represented by the equations: |ΔEY-ΔEM|<=5, |ΔEM-ΔEC|<=5, and |ΔEC-ΔEY|<=5.
