PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method economically producing a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin capable of preventing breakage of the reinforcing fiber in the production of the resin and its molded article, having excellent dispersibility of the reinforcing fiber in the thermoplastic resin and capable of utilizing characteristics of the reinforcing fiber. SOLUTION: This method simultaneously carries out the synthesis of the thermoplastic resin and dispersion of the reinforcing fiber to the thermoplastic resin by polymerizing a raw material of the thermoplastic resin in the presence of 5-50 mass.% of the reinforcing fiber having average fiber length of 0.3-25 mm. The method is capable of effectively producing the molded article fully expressing the characteristics of the reinforcing fiber by continuously molding the produced fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin in a molten state.
