Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for an extra fine carbon fiber felt, with which a carbon fiber felt is simply and continuously produced even in an extra fine carbon fiber. SOLUTION: A solution of a binder resin having 1-30 μm average droplet diameter is sprayed on the extra fine carbon fiber having 0.3-10 μm average fiber diameter to produce an extra fine carbon fiber belt. The average droplet diameter of the spray liquid of the binder resin is about 2-20 μm. The ratio of the average fiber diameter of the extra fine carbon fiber to the average droplet diameter of the spray liquid of the binder resin, the former/the latter is about 1/20. In the method, the carbon fiber may be piled in a cottony state while opening an extra fine carbon fiber assembly and supplying the opened extra fine carbon fiber assembly to a fiber collection part and spraying the solution of the binder resin on the fiber collection part. The ratio of the extra fine carbon fiber to the binder resin is about 0.1-30 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the extra fine carbon fiber.
