Summary: | PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a continuous coal gasifier utilizing solar thermal energy enabling long reaction time to be utilized and easily respondable to the change in irradiation conditions. SOLUTION: This coal gasifier utilizing solar thermal energy has the following construction: a conveyor 12 for use at high temperatures is set up in an airtight chamber 11 equipped with an airtight-type charge port 17, a quantitative feeder 18 and an airtight-type discharge port 20, the ceiling at a midway portion of the conveyor is provided with a sunlight intake window 19 having the major axis in the moving direction of the conveyor so as to irradiate the bearing surface of the conveyor with sunlight, a steam-jetting spray tube is provided sideways of the sunlight intake window, and there is also provided a gas nozzle through which the gas produced in the chamber 11. Using this coal gasifier, a reaction gas is generated by loading coal in a nearly uniform thickness on the bearing surface of the conveyor and then irradiating the coal with sunlight in the presence of steam. |
