Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an earth retaining construction method using steel pipes capable of efficiently retaining the earth with the steel pipes by excavating and agitating the soil with several auger rods to provide excavated holes having a lateral elliptic cross section, and inserting several lug steel pipes connected to each other through the lugs thereof into the excavated holes at the same time. SOLUTION: Parallel auger rods 13 of a multi-shaft excavating and agitating machine 4 installed in a leader mast 2 of a crawler crane 1 freely to be moved in the vertical direction is rotated, and while the multi-shaft excavating and agitating machine 4 is lowered by a dead weight thereof to excavate and agitate the ground, filling the solidifying liquid from a through hole provided in the shaft center of each auger rod 13, to form excavated holes having a lateral elliptic cross section filled with the soil mixed with the agitated solidifying liquid. Several lug steel pipes are inserted into the excavated holes in the condition that the steel pipes are connected to each other in parallel with each other through the lugs thereof. Similar excavated holes are continuously provided, and other several lug steel pipes connected to each other in parallel with each other through the lug parts thereof are inserted into the excavated holes, while connecting them to the former lug steel pipes.
