Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rapidly read bar codes even in a situation that bar codes including a supplemental part and bar codes not including it coexist. SOLUTION: In a main part of each bar code including the supplemental part, a designation code is set at its predetermined figure position. A main part analysis means 311 analyzes the main part, and a presence determination means 312 examines whether or not the designation code is set at the predetermined position of the main part. When the designation code is set, a supplemental part analysis means 313 executes an analysis process for the supplemental part until the analysis result for the supplemental part is obtained or a predetermined time elapses. When the analysis result for the supplemental part is obtained, a synthesizing means 314 synthesizes and outputs the analysis results for the main part and the supplemental part, and when the analysis result for the supplemental part is not obtained, it outputs only the analysis result for the main part.
