Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conjugated diene/cycloolefin addition copolymer which can be designed as a rubbery polymer or as a plastic. SOLUTION: This addition copolymer at least has repeating units derived from a conjugated diene monomer and repeating units derived from a cycloolefin monomer. The repeating units derived from a conjugated diene monomer accounts for 10-99 mol% of the total repeating units, and the repeating units derived from a cycloolefin monomer, 90-1 mol%. The copolymer has a wt. average mol.wt. (in terms of polystyrene, by gel permeation chromatography) of 5,000 to 1,000,000 and a glass transition temperature of -100 deg.C to 200 deg.C.
