Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detergent composition including nanoparticles of aluminum oxide for washing keratins. SOLUTION: This detergent composition for washing the keratins comprises particles having <=200 nm of average particle diameter substantially comprising aluminum oxide, at least one anionic surfactant and at least one amphoteric or nonionic surfactant in a cosmetically permissible aqueous medium. A method of cosmetic treatment for a keratin fiber and a method of using the composition as a shampoo are provided. The preferable diameter of the particles 5 to 50 nm. Hydrated alumina may be used as the aluminum oxide. The amount of the aluminum oxide in the composition is 0.01 to 20 mass.%, preferably 0.1 to 5 mass.% based on the total mass of the detergent composition.
