PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply realize the using management of a recording medium such as a video tape at a fixed cost. SOLUTION: A medium management device 1 for managing the medium to which a non-contact IC label 6 having a nonvolatile memory area is stuck by a controller 4 connected with the reader/writer 3 of the non-contacting IC label and a display 5 and provided with a media management means, counts the number of using times of the medium or the number of the using times and the using time of the medium whenever an objective medium is used once and stores the counted results in the label 6 to manage the state of the deterioration of the quality of the objective medium from the number of the using times or the number of the using times and the accumulative using period of the medium.
