Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a vinylidene fluoride polymer which has good coloration resistance at high temperatures under industrially rational conditions. SOLUTION: The polymer is produced in which the elution amount of total organic carbon to a pure water (95 deg.C) is 1.1 μg/cm2 or less by carrying out the suspension polymerization at a polymerization temperature of 10-100 deg.C in a medium mixture obtained by adding to an aqueous medium of 100 pts.mass a halogenated hydrocarbon solvent in 10-50 pts.mass represented by the formula CX3CX2CHX2 [X is a fluorine or chlorine; 4-6 of 7 Xs are a fluorine and 1-3 Xs are a chlorine], which has good solubility against both of a vinylidene fluoride monomer and a polymerization initiator.
