PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for easily and accurately aligning sheet metal members which expand and contract unevenly. SOLUTION: The positions of recognition marks 2a and 2b arranged equally arranged from the center position of a workpiece 1a are recognized and measured. The workpiece 1a is turned so that the line segment between the recognition marks 2a and 2b becomes parallel with the X axis. The position of the recognition mark 2c of the center point of the workpiece 1a is recognized and measured, and the workpiece 1a is moved in X and Y directions in parallel so that the recognition mark 2c coincides with the intersecting point where the X axis and the Y axis intersect with each other. The workpiece 1a is moved so that the line segment between the recognition marks 2a and 2b becomes parallel with the X axis and the recognition mark 2c coincides with the intersecting point where the X axis and the Y axis intersect with each other for alignment.
