Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the efficiency of image formation by making a scanner or a printer whichever has no fault continue operation even when a fault occurs to the scanner of the printer. SOLUTION: When the scanner and the printer are operated in parallel, it is decided whether the other is stopped from operating if an error occurs in one device to perform efficient image formation. Namely, if the occurring error can be reset (No in step S32), a system CPU decides whether or not the current control is synchronous control (step S33). When so, the system CPU switches the control to asynchronous control (step S34) to quit only the printer operation (step S35) and carry on the scanner operation.
