Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a copyright protecting and recording method for optical disks which is capable of prohibiting illicit copying of the programs, data, etc., based on the copyright and managing the duplication of copies which are licit under the restriction of the number of times. SOLUTION: The prescribed segments of both of a source side optical disk 10 which is an optical disk, such as a CD(compact disc) or DVD(digital video disc), and is recorded with original data or the like and a target side optical disk 20 to which the data or the like are written are respectively mounted with ID chips 101 and 102 including duplication right ID information, such as permission of duplication or not and number of times of duplication permission. The permission of writing or not is decided by the collation check of the ID codes generated by these ID chips.
