PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic commerce system and its method in which a hardware identification number can take the place of user information. SOLUTION: This electronic commerce system includes a user computer including a program for extracting the MAC address of a network card inserted into the user computer and the hardware identification number such as the serial number of a modem or a system board from each user computer and transferring the MAC address and the hardware identification number to a server, and the server including a program for preparing an identification number account corresponding to the existing user account with the transferred hardware identification number as a reference and according to a new hardware identification number in the case of the new hardware identification number and for completing an identification number account confirmation procedure with the existing registered hardware identification number and using the identification number account as a user account in the case of the existing registered hardware identification number.
