Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a self-rotating bit type down-the-hole hammer, in which rotation required for a bit for the-down-the hole hammer is obtained from a hammer conducting reciprocation and a rolling mechanism and a strong boring rod are not required apart from the hammer, which is simple and has excellent workability and by which deviation excavation in directional boring is also enabled. SOLUTION: The self-rotating bit type down-the-hole hammer has the hammer being driven by the energy of a fluid and conducting reciprocation and a motion conversion mechanism converting reciprocation into the rotary motion of the bit, and the bit is given rotation by the motion conversion mechanism with the reciprocation of the hammer. The motion conversion mechanism is composed of a rifle bar engaged into a rifle groove formed to an inside diameter section at the upper end of the hammer and a ratchet wheel mechanism supporting the rifle bar while controlling the revolution of the rifle bar in one direction, and the hammer and the bit have rotary bushes splice-connected on the insides under the state in which the percussion surfaces of the lower end face of the hammer and the upper end face of the bit are faced oppositely.
