Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove a substance sticking to the screen side as well as the side surface of a cathode ray tube. SOLUTION: A cathode ray tube 1 is placed on a transportation pallet with a screen facing down and is delivered just above a lift unit 61. A revolving shaft 62 and an adsorptive pad 63 are raised to a first raised position while a presser part 22 is lowered so that a cathode ray tube is held between the adsorptive pad and the presser part. A lower plate 72 of a dirt receiving cover 71 is advanced and an upper plate is advanced relative to the lower plate. A mirror 74 fitted to the upper plate is moved to a position for reflecting operator's near side part on the screen side of the cathode ray tube. A foot switch 81 is pressed, while the cathode ray tube is rotated by hand, to remove the substance sticking to the side surface of the cathode ray tube and a funnel surface. The foot may be put off the foot switch to prevent rotation of the cathode ray tube. The cathode ray tube and the adsorptive pad are raised to a second raised position to remove the substance sticking to the screen side of the cathode ray tube while observing the mirror.
