Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a magnetic recording medium, with which the storage capacity of the magnetic recording medium can be ensured to the maximum extent, and a no good medium can immediately be recognized to stop processing, when a magnetic recording medium having defective sectors exceeding a prescribed number is supplied to the downstream. SOLUTION: A sector in which a defect is found by verification is registered in a defect list as a defective sector. The defect list is erased, when the number of defective sectors more than the prescribed number is registered in the defect list.
