Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for adding an LDAP protocol to a present directory assistance(DA) system. SOLUTION: This method for mapping a light weight directory access protocol(LDAP) interface to a directory assistance(DA) system comprises a first step for extracting an LDAP compatible retrieval argument for retrieving an LDAP database from an LDAP request, a second step for converting the LDAP compatible retrieval argument into a DA system database compatible retrieval argument, a third step for collating the DA system database by using the converted retrieval argument, and a fourth step for receiving the result set of a list from the DA system database in response to the collation, thereby converting the result set into the LDAP compatible result set.
