Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a water quality analyzer which does not require periodical adjustments or exchange of oxidizer. SOLUTION: Sulfate is subjected to electrolysis by an electrolysis section 40 and peroxysulfate is generated. The channel of the electrolysis section 40 is connected to an 8-port valve 22. A specific amount of generated peroxysulfate is sucked by a microsyringe 22 and is added to the mixed liquid of sample water, dilute water, and sodium hydroxide in an oxidation reaction bath 31 at an oxidation electrolysis section 30, and is subjected to oxidation decomposition into nitric acid ions by the irradiation of ultraviolet rays, using a low- pressure mercury-vapor lamp 32. A specific amount of sample water that is subjected to oxidation decomposition and pH-adjusted is sucked by the microsyringe 22 and is transported to a measurement cell 91 at an absorbance measurement section 9. The absorbance of the nitric acid ions with a wavelength of 220 nm is measured at the absorbance measurement section 9, the measured absorbance of the nitric acid ions is processed arithmetically by a control/data- processing section 10, to obtain TN concentration and the TN concentration is displayed on a display section 40.
