PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the detection of a sector synchronizing data pattern of data recorded by a CD-ROM format, with simple control. SOLUTION: This device is provided with an exclusive OR gate 1 receiving inputted 8 bits data and the output of a latch 3 as its input, a 00h detector 2 for detecting that the output of this exclusive OR gate 1 is 00h, a FFh detector 5 for detecting that the same aforementioned output is FFh, and a counter 4 for measuring the number of continued detecting times of 00h by the 00h detector 2, and the latch 3 is kept to be reset condition in the initial state so as to detect that the output of the exclusive OR gate 1 is 00h in this state, and after the 00h is detected, the reset state of the latch 3 is released, and the inversion value of the output of exclusive OR gate 1 at a previous clock timing is inputted to the exclusive OR gate 1 at a clock timing of this time, and when the 00h is detected in the specified number of times, the detection is made whether the output of the exclusive OR gate 1 is FFh or not.
