Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printer and a cartridge and to effectively avoid the leakage of ink at the time of maintenance such as replacement of a head or the like, especially in adaptation to an ink jet printer. SOLUTION: The negative pressure of an ink tank is increased by negative pressure increasing mechanisms 52, 53 and 55 and the increase in the negative pressure of the ink tank by the negative pressure increasing mechanisms 52, 53 and 55 is stopped by mounting the ink tank on the printer.
