Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system which forcibly informs an object person attendant at an information provision place without requiring access operations to an information source and makes him or her directly and interactively concerned in this information. SOLUTION: The information providing system is provided with a portable terminal 55 which can be connected to a public network 40, a large-sized screen 20 which is arranged in the street to display information so that a pedestrian carrying this portable terminal 55 can see it, and a management server 30 which is connected to a plurality of portable terminals 55 through the public network 40. The management server 30 transmits the information to display it on the large-sized display screen, and transmits the result of a response to the information to the large-sized display screen 20 to display it thereon when this response is inputted from the portable terminal 55.
