Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data input device of which operability at the time of transmission setting can be improved. SOLUTION: At the time of inputting data of a transmission destination in a transmission setting picture 20, a FAX number, a mail address or a salutation address is inputted to an input area 31 as data of the transmission destination by using a telephone directory command key 32 and the like. If the input area 31 is not vacant when an 'Enter' key is operated from a keyboard, data of the transmission destination, which is inputted to the input area 31, are moved to a display area 33 and displayed. If the input area 31 is vacant when the 'Enter' key is operated from the keyboard, it is judged that the input of the transmission destination is terminated. In the transmission setting picture 20, data of the transmission destination can be inputted only by operating the keyboard. Namely, data of the transmission destination can be inputted without using the keyboard and a mouse.
