Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pneumatic tire having a higher load holding capacity while fitting a standard wheel rim. SOLUTION: The sectional width of the tire 440 is regulated by lines L1, L2 disposed intersecting perpendicularly to the axis AR of rotation and apart from the equatorial plane EP by a distance of A/2. The tire 440 has lines M1, M2 parallel to the lines L1, L2 and apart from the lines L1, L2 by 1 to 5 mm toward the equatorial plane EP and points P1, P2 on the lines M1, M2 which are positioned at minimum distances dp1, dp2 in the direction of radius from at least one elastic ply to the axis AR of rotation. The elastic ply has a ply line PL including the points P1, P2 and extending from the P1, P2 by r1, r2 inward in the radial direction to reach a crown part CP without separating from the lines M1, M2 in the axial direction by distances d3, d4 of 0 to 5 mm.
