Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control deformation of an inner ring raceway during a caulking operation of a bearing device. SOLUTION: This bearing device has an angular ball bearing 12 mounted on an outer periphery of a hollow shaft 14 of a hub wheel 11 and has a shaft end 14a of the hollow shaft 14 bent to a radially outer direction to caulk an end surface of an inner ring 15 of the bearing for a bearing pull off prevention. The inner ring 15 is wholly hardened by heat treatment to improve wear resistance and strength of a raceway surface 15b and an inner periphery edge part circumference area 30 of the inner ring is softened by local tempering after heat treatment. Deformation of the inner ring by a caulking load, thereby, is limited in the inner periphery edge part circumference area 30 to control deformation of the raceway for improvement of a bearing rolling characteristics.
