Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a damper drive device for automatic playing piano which can assure the adequate treading reaction force of a damper pedal in acoustic playing without increasing the load on an actuator to drive the damper in automatic playing with a simple constitution. SOLUTION: This damper drive device has a freely turnable damper pedal 2 which is operated to be treaded in order to obtain a damper effect in acoustic playing, a pedal rod 3 which is connected at its bottom end to the damper pedal 2 and is driven upward by accompanying the treading operation of the damper pedal 2, a freely turnable damper pedal lever 6 which is abutted by the pedal rod 3 from below, is jerked up by the driven pedal rod 3 and drives the damper by turning in a prescribed direction, the actuator 16 which is turned in the prescribed direction by thrusting the damper pedal lever 6 in order to obtain the damper effect in the automatic playing and a resetting spring 22 which directly downwardly energizes the pedal rod 3.
