PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic honeycomb body for a catalyst for cleaning exhaust gas, which has a cylindrical form provided with first and second end surfaces and a cylindrical outer circumference surface, in which a plurality of passages penetrate in parallel in the axis direction from one end surface to the other, in which the passages formed by passage walls are arranged in a regular pattern over the cross section, of which the center portion is encircled by the outer edge portion of the honeycomb body having the thickness of the plurality of passage diameters, and of which the compression strength is improved in a radius direction. SOLUTION: Ceramic materials of the outer circumference surface of the cylinder and the passage walls in the region of the outer end of the honeycomb body are reinforced by adhering or inserting single or plural inorganic materials to enhance the mechanical stability.
