Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a boss for welding with which no recessed and projected traces or deformation are generated on the surface of a metallic casing when a boss-shaped part is joined on the metallic casing whose plate thickness is 1 mm or less. SOLUTION: The boss for welding is characterized by the fact that part of the end face of the boss-shaped part 1 which is brought into contact with the casing is formed with an electrically conductive part 2 consisting of ring- shaped protrusions 4 whose cross section is triangular, the other part is formed with a flat non-conductive layer 6, and the height of the non-conductive layer 6 is made lower than the tips of the ring-shaped protrusions 4 by a half of the length between the tips of the ring-shaped protrusions.
